Training advice you can trace back to the research

GainsLog exists to turn training research into a simple weekly plan. This page explains who builds it and how the guides are written.

Who writes this

Built and written by a lifter, not a content farm

Ossian is the founder of GainsLog. He built the app's hypertrophy-first training programs and writes its guides, turning training research into simple weekly decisions. GainsLog grew out of the logging system he used for his own training, which he has recorded since 2016.

How we research

Our editorial standards

Primary sources, linked

Training claims link to peer-reviewed research or position stands, so you can read the evidence yourself.

Mechanism plus outcome

We favour advice supported by both a plausible mechanism and measurable outcomes, not one or the other.

No sponsor bias

GainsLog has no affiliate deals on training content. We recommend what the evidence supports.

Corrected when wrong

When the evidence changes or we get something wrong, we update the guide and note the change.

What we cover

One narrow, well-evidenced lane

We focus on hypertrophy, strength, and the training decisions that actually move the needle: volume, intensity, frequency, progression, and body composition.
